Ukraine hotel

“Skyscraper”, the second for height, has been constructed in 1953 — 1957. It was named as “Ukraine” within the board of Khrushchev. During the Stalinist epoch, the hotel had the project name “The Hotel Building in Dorogomilov”.

The Ukraine hotel has received its appearance thanks to a group of architects: the academician of architecture, the president of Academy of the architecture of the USSR A. G. Mordvinov, the design engineer P. A. Krasilnikov, the co-author of the draft of residential houses B. G. of Kalisz and the co-author of the draft of a stylobate — the doctor of architecture V. K. Oltarzhevsky who studied the technology of skyscrapers construction in New York and specialized in design and construction of hotels.

On May 25,1957 the ceremonial opening of the hotel recognized the largest in Europe was held. In 2005 the facade of the building announced by a historical and cultural monument was completely restored. In March 2007 full-scale reconstruction works, including works in the adjacent territory had begun.

On April 28, 2010, after completion of large-scale restoration the Ukraine hotel has begun to work under the new name Radisson Royal, Moscow hotel (Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow).
